Carpet cleaning requires proper equipment, experience and knowledge. Spills, spots and stains happen every day.

Vacuuming once isn’t always enough. Double back over your vacuumed areas to remove deeply embedded dirt that can wear down carpet fibers.

Pay extra attention to high-traffic areas and vacuum them more often.

Add baking soda to your vacuum bag to help fight odors.

Clean spills as soon as they happen. The longer they sit, the harder they are to remove.

Blot excess moisture right away using a clean white terry towel or any clean white absorbent material. Never rub.

Test any spot remover in an inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn’t damage or discolor your carpet.

Apply cleaning solution gently and blot from the outside of the stain toward the center. Avoid rubbing and over-wetting.

Use cleaning formulas sparingly. Over-wetting can cause more harm than good.

Always blot, never rub.

Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

Be patient. Some stains take multiple attempts to fully remove.

Careless stain removal can cause permanent damage. If you’re unsure, call 1-844-BOWERMAN.

Leaving stains untreated can also cause permanent damage or allow stains to reappear after cleaning.

Use cleaning agents 1–5 (listed below) in order until the stain is gone.

Apply small amounts of solution using a clean white towel, blotting between applications.

Continue until no more stain transfers to the towel.

Finish by blotting remaining moisture with a clean towel. Weight it down and let it dry for at least six hours.

Use small amounts to avoid damaging carpet backing or materials.

Never use gasoline, lighter fluid or flammable liquids.

Mix 1 teaspoon of mild liquid dish detergent (no bleach/alkali) with 1 cup lukewarm water.

Mix 1 tablespoon of household ammonia with ½ cup water.

Never mix ammonia with bleach.

Mix ⅓ cup white vinegar with ⅔ cup water.

Follow label directions and allow to sit for the time recommended by the manufacturer.

Apply small amounts of the cleaning solution with a clean, white absorbent towel. Blot frequently and continue to apply and blot until the staining material is no longer transferred to the absorbent material. The final step is: blot any remaining moisture or cleaning solutions by pressing or padding the area with absorbent towel: weight it down and allow at least six hours to dry.
Some stains require special professional care. If the stain is not removed by a prescribed household method, consult a professional ASCR cleaner or restorer.
